Default What length of rod?

Gearing up for an 18 day trip on the RP. Have decided on UC Viper and Invictus blanks. Does anyone have advice on choice of length: 7' versus 7'6"?

Possible factors: Traveling a long way by plane. Side of house rod storage on the RP is 7'2", except way up front. Will not be doing any jig work -- only casting to get bait away from the boat. (YoYo, chunk, troll, kite, not casting jigs)

Some people like the longer rod, but if I had the same constraints as you (plane travel and home storage), I'd get the seven footer.

Good luck.

If your back can handle it go for the longer rod.

If you're going to approach the trip as a fly in fly out, you can load your gear on the boat and dont worry about dealing with dragging the long tubes through the airport.

the extra 6" will help out a lot in casting, shock absorption and once pinned to the rail in keeping the line from rubbing against the boat.

It will put extra strain on you though...
