I believe it. Do you remember the skiff trip on the Q105 that we shared around 12 years ago? On the last morning I let my plastic drop to the bottom and got snagged...or so I thought at first. But I couldn't unsnag it, and neither could deckhand Cal.

Then we sort of looked at each other, and he pulled and gained a few inches. I must have hooked a tanker black sea bass. We tried moving it for about 15 minutes and gained maybe a yard. No one had the time or desire to spend a few hours playing a huge fish on bass gear standing up in a tin skiff, so I tightened the drag and broke it off.
